Charge Premium Prices when You Start an Online Preschool – with Shana Weldon

If you want to add value to your program with enrichment classes, listen to today’s Preschool All Stars story: Shana Weldon has worked in elementary education for over 20 years, but after the pandemic hit, she felt like this could be the opportunity she had been waiting for to change her life trajectory. She set out to open a local preschool, but was hit with roadblock after roadblock. After changing course to open an online preschool, she knew she would need to have a higher price point to make it work. So she set out to create a program that offered so much value, it was worth the premium price she was charging. Listen in to discover how you can add value to your program through enrichment classes, too!

Shana has spent 20 years in education, but always felt like something was missing. Being a teacher during the pandemic was hard, and she realized that it just wouldn’t work for her or her family to continue in her current job. One day, she stumbled upon Joy’s program and decided to dig a little deeper.

After reading Joy’s book, Shana knew that this was the answer she had been looking for. She spent almost a year preparing for her local preschool, because she didn’t think online preschool could make her enough money. But after being shut down by her HOA, and unable to find an affordable place to rent, she was getting discouraged. She started to think of ways to make an online program that offered so much value, people would pay a premium price.

With the help of Joy and the Preschool All Stars, Shana was able to build a program that offered so many resources and classes, she could charge enough to replace her old job. The ideas, support, and value that Joy offers enabled Shana to scale up her program so she could offer things she had never even thought of before.

Shana’s program now includes Spanish, soccer, dance, and robotics lessons, in addition to her everyday classes that she teaches. She also added the option for one on one sessions, which sets her program apart from others. She is always looking for new classes and ideas to add more value to her program, including once a month lunch meetings, and bedtime read alouds. This new model works for her family, and she loves the time it allows for things other than work.
