Ditch the Classroom and Start a Traveling Preschool – with Sherrell Widgeon

If you want to learn how you can ditch the classroom and still run a preschool, listen to today’s Preschool All Stars story: Sherrell Widgeon is a pre-k para professional with her local school district, but the long hours and exhaustion have led her to look for other options. Since she can’t run a preschool out of her home, she had to get creative with her program. Her local Summer school program now travels to 3 different locations every week! Listen in to discover how you can ditch the classroom, too!

Sherrell has goals of starting her own preschool. But she can’t have a local preschool out of her home right now. So she opted for online preschool. During the year, she still works at the district and teaches her online preschool classes after work. But during the summer, she wanted to be able to offer a summer program for local students.

After reading Joy’s booka and joining The Preschool All Stars, she knew that if she could just think outside the box, she could come up with something that would work for her situation. That is when she decided that she didn’t need a classroom, she could use places that were set up for kids already.

With the help of Joy and the Preschool All Stars, Sherrell has been able to build a program that works perfectly for her situation. She loves attending Tech Tuesdays, Motivation Mondays, and all of the other amazing workshops that the Preschool All Stars host.

Sherrell is hoping that she can quit her para job and make her online and local summer program be her sole source of income. In the summer, her students spend time at the local movie theater, food courts, and jungle gyms, while also learning their preschool skills with a focus on STEM.
