(SUMMIT) BRANDING MATTERS: How to Niche Down to Attract Your Perfect People!

How do you make your preschool stand out from all the rest? Join us today for a very special episode from our Full by Fall summit, where Miranda Rodriguez will talk all about “Branding Matters: How to Niche Down to Attract Your Perfect People!”

Miranda has over 50 preschoolers who are joining her passion in cultural awareness and fun learning! Make sure you tune in to find out how she was able to jumpstart her growing humble online preschool into what it is now.

Find Your Passion That Is Backed by Skills

Ask yourself the following questions: What do you love to do? What topic can you imagine yourself talking about for hours? What brings you joy? What would you love to teach or talk about with your kids or with other children?

If you are able to define your passion, it’s most helpful if you already have the skills to back it up. Of course, you can always learn new things and there’s nothing wrong when you are just about to equip yourself with the right skills for a newfound passion. But if you want to get your preschool up and running faster, a passion with a skill is the way to go.

Find the Market for Your Niche

Now that you already know what you love to do, now is the time to find the market for your niche.

First step, do a gut check, Follow your instinct about what other people need. In Miranda’s case, she figured that a lot of preschools in her area were too high-pressure and rigid. They no longer felt fun. So she thought of ensuring that her program would be fun and low-pressure.

Second, do an overview of the communities. Think of what kind of people can mainly benefit from your program.

Third, do a community check. What are people currently needing and which community do they belong to? Is it a set of people who all seem to belong to your church, your cooking class, a mom group, etc? The best part about this tip is that you’re probably in the community you’re looking for!

    Narrow It Down

Review passions because there’s a high chance that there’s also a group of children and parents who love and share your passion, too!

Use market research – ask around and know what other parents love about other preschools. Listen carefully with what they wish could be improved. Catch the strengths and improve the weaknesses.

Set yourself apart by incorporating something unique. In Miranda’s case, being a bilingual preschool with an emphasis on cultural diversity set her apart from the rest.

Check the Competition and Test the Market

This can be hard work. You have to check programs with a similar mission statement, and programs with different mission statements as well. Observe what aligns with you.

And as Joy loves to tell us: “We do not try, we test.” When you define your target market, you need to survey and study what people need. Get out, ask, and find out what they might love to avail from your preschool.

It’s also important to repel other markets. If they’re not for us, we’re not for them. There’s no use in always forcing and pushing ourselves to the people who do not need your specialization! There’s always a sea of your perfect people out there.
